Abstract
The lipoma is one of the most common tumors in the soft tissue, however, it rarely occurs in the intraosseous region, even though the medullary canal contains an abundance of fatty tissue. Most authors have reported only a few cases, except for Milgram¢¥s one. We analyzed all cases of intraosseous lipoma by simple Roentgenogram, CT, and MRI, and confirmed them by light microscope. Bony involvement of intraosseous lipoma included 2 cases of calcaneus, and 1 case each of proximal humerus, proximal phalanx in the great toe, and proximal tibia. Four cases were located in the
metaphyseal region, but the case involving the great toe was in the diaphyseal region. The lesions were managed by intralesional excision and bone cementing because they were located on a weight-bearing bone and impending fractures were inevitable in 2 cases of calcaneus and 1 case of proximal tibia. The other two were managed by intralesional excision with excellent results.
